Vendor of the Week: Courtney Nicole Photography

Picture
Highly sought after local photographer Courtney Nicole Photography is this weeks Vendor of the Week!  Read more below...

How did you get started as a photographer?

I began as a family photographer back in my (former) home-state of California. About a year into my career I was asked to photograph a wedding, and after my first I was hooked! I began to eat, sleep, and breathe wedding photography. After five years my husband, Josh, joined the team and a year ago James joined us. The rest is history!
Picture
How many years have you been in business?
I’m 7 years and two states strong.
Picture
What types of photography services do you offer?
Besides weddings, I offer family, maternity, and newborn photography. Josh and James offer commercial photography.
Picture
Tell me about your wedding packages?

We offer everything from elopements to full day coverage. All of our packages include artistically retouched digital images, with our top packages including canvases and wedding albums. Because we're a team, we're able to offer packages with two photographers and a videographer.
Picture
What type of camera/equipment do you use?
I’m a Pentax shooter which often comes as a surprise to people. I specifically chose it because, besides being a high resolution full-frame camera with amazing dynamic range, it is extremely durable and weather resistant - so important for our Florida weather. So when it rains I'll still be front and center, no need to take cover.  At a wedding I’ll typically have a 24-70, 70-200, and an 85 lens in my bag. Josh uses Sony for videography.
Picture
What programs do you use for editing?
I edit all photos in Adobe Photoshop. Josh edits videos in Adobe Premier Pro.
Picture
What sets you apart from other photographers?
I’m very professional yet very personable. I have a commercial studio where I meet my couples and all my contracts and invoices are done online, in a very user-friendly program. I take the time to get to know my couples and usually helping them plan their special day. Whether it be the timeline or giving them vendor information I like to not only provide beautiful photographs – but a beautiful experience.  A lot of my brides end up returning a year or so later for their maternity and newborn photos, so I end up creating special bonds as I watch their story unfold.
Picture
Has your work earned any awards? I’ve earned Top 10 Photographer on Summerana, I'm a Thumbtack top pro, and have been acknowledged by various photography forums.
Picture
Where has your work been featured?
The Sun Star newspaper interviewed me about the local wedding industry, I’ve been on ABC News Channel 7 for an interview in my studio, and I’ve been published in Grandeur magazine.
Picture
Do you have any special offers or promotions?
Yes! I bundle with the highly sought after All Event Entertainment. He offers DJ and a magic mirror photo booth. When bundled with him I take 10% off any photography session, and I offer a bundle package when adding on videography.
Picture
How can you be reached?
Check out my website www.courtneynicolephotos.com and I have multiple ways of being reached. Thanks!

5 Pro Wedding Planner Tips

7/24/2019

1) Set A Budget
And a realistic one at that! Sit down with your parents, their parents and your significant other to realistically determine how much each can afford. You will feel so much better knowing exactly how much money you can spend instead of feeling super sad when you have to cut everything back a few short weeks from the wedding.
Picture

2) Target That Guest List
Do you need to invite every co-worker and your second cousin twice removed? The answer is NO! Really concentrate on your quest list and narrow it down to close family and friends. This day is monumental- fill it with those people that have been nearest and dearest to you.
Picture

3) Be True To Yourself
Are you a country bride rocking boots and horseshoes necklaces all the time? Then own your rustic country barn wedding! Don't try to be something you are not or make your entire wedding so unique that it does not reflect you or your fiance.
Picture
Platinum Florida Weddings
4) Always Have A Back Up Plan
Dreamed of getting married outside on the beach in September? Be prepared and have a back up plan. While Mother Nature may not be included on the guest list- she likes to show up from time to time.

5) Don't Forget To Enjoy Your Day
Things will happen. Something might go wrong or everything might go perfectly. Regardless, remember to enjoy your day! You can't relive it- so don't spend it worrying about the 'what if's'. Enjoy each moment, from getting ready with your girls to the last hug good bye at the end of the night. You worked hard planning so enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Add a touch of elegance and charm to your wedding signs with flowing garlands.  Perfectly sized to fit your welcome sign, escort sign or menu board.  What an impressive display as your guests arrive at your reception.

“Dear Daddy, no matter where I go in life, you’ll always be my number
one man.”  – Unknown
~~

Father's play an important part in any daughters wedding day.    From the planning stages and writing checks to first dances and speeches.  A father's role is truly important throughout the whole event.  As we approach Father's Day 2019 we wanted to send a special thank you to any bride's first love- her Daddy!

Picture

We have seen fathers be the best man.  We have seen him play the part of the officiant.  We have seen fathers, step-fathers, and men who are like-fathers walk their beloved daughters down the aisle.   It's the most significant part of the day.

Pro Tip:  We always encourage the brides to stop at the end of the aisle with their dad.  Pause for a moment, take in the last memory with dad before you embark on that next journey of your life with the new love of your life.

Exotic blooms like protea, thistle and safari sunset add unique texture and dimension.  Tiny accent flowers such as hypericum berries, rice flower and astilbe tie perfectly into these soft and romantic themes.

Vendor of the Week: Amanda Lee Events

Picture
How did you get started in the wedding industry?
My bachelors degree required 9 credits of paid internships so I started working at In Bloom Florist and began learning the in and outs of the event business from some of the best in the industry. That is when I feel in love with weddings, corporate events, and trade shows.
Picture
What is your background/education?
I grew up in a family owned business so when I attended UCF, I really wanted to earn a degree in a field that I could build my own business.  I graduated in 2014 with honors from University of Central Florida's Rosen College of Hospitality Management with a B.S. in Event Management.
Picture
How many years have you been in business?
I opened my business in August of 2015 and really started to brand myself in 2017.
Picture
What services do you offer?
Multiple planning packages from day of coordination to full planning services. I also offer rental items, custom signs and invitations.
Picture
What do you think is currently trending for weddings?
This year I think geometric shapes have become a lot more popular. They are being incorporated in design, decor metals, on the invitations and even with furniture.
Picture
What are your predictions for 2019 wedding trends?
I think with 2019 weddings, less will be more. I see a lot of weddings leaning towards having simple more natural looking decor.  Even the bridal parties attire have been turning towards more neutrals over the loud accent colors and I suspect we will be seeing more of that.
Picture
What are your key strengths?
I would say persistence and the ability to stay calm in all situations but I am really bad at "bragging" on myself so here are some quotes from my clients.

"Always calm, reassuring, no problem too big, no question too silly, no task too difficult. She handles everything with confidence and grace and always with a smile." - Jeanne

"I had not planned on hiring any type of wedding coordinator as I was trying to cut as much as possible from our budget. However, after seeing how much Mandi did to make our day perfect I am so happy we didn't skimp in this area. " - Rosie

Picture
What is your favorite part about weddings?
I love everything about weddings but I love seeing love. I adore seeing a first look and that adoration in the couples eyes.   I also melt when I am hiding in the back watching and I see other couples look at their partner or grab hands when they hear the vows once again that they also made at one time.
Picture
What is the cost for your services?
Day of services start at $950 and my biggest full planning package starts at $3750.
Picture
Where are you located and how far do you travel?
I am located in Port Charlotte but I will travel just about anywhere!
Picture
What are your hours?
Tuesday - Saturday 10 am - 6 pm but available by email 24/7 and by appointment after hours.

Real Weddings: Amanda & Thomas- Plantation Golf & Country Club- Venice, Florida

Picture
When & where did you get married?
Plantation Golf & Country Club - August 18, 2018
Picture
Is there any significance to the date or location?
We picked August 18, 2018 because it was a day before our dating anniversary and a day after my Grandma Lynch's birthday... plus it was an awesome date written out!
I wanted it to be near my Grandma's birthday to honor her, as I was blessed enough to get her 50 year anniversary wedding set to wear as my own.
Picture
Tell us about your gown?
My gown was absolutely gorgeous. I found it at Charlotte Bridal Boutique. I went in very open minded and they helped me rule out what I liked and what I did not.
A couple weeks before my wedding I decided to get a second gown, my first one was perfect but I didn't feel like I would be able to dance as comfortably as I wanted
so I got a second gown that was more loose fitted... also from Charlotte Bridal Boutique.
Picture
Describe your man?
He is perfectly my other half. Every attribute that I lack, he allows me to gain through him.   As cliche as it may be, Song of Solomon said it best... "I have found the one whom my soul loves"
Picture
What traditions did you incorporate into your wedding day?
We did the old, new, borrowed and blue tradition. We also separated after the rehearsal and did not see each other til the ceremony.
Picture
Favorite wedding moment?
Out of all the crazy surrounding a wedding day, my favorite moment was our wedding vows with Pastor Frank.  I know hundreds of people were in the room with us but at that moment, but I only heard and saw Thomas.  It was a feeling I will never forget.

Picture
Detail your flowers for us?
My wedding WAS flowers, anywhere you looked there was an absolutely gorgeous floral arrangement on display. I gave PC Florist a list of flowers I loved,
gave them a few ideas and let them run with it and the setup was more gorgeous than I could have imagined.
The ceremony had a complete floral arch that was breath taking, and garland on the floor to line the aisle. The reception had a mixture of tall elaborate arrangements and lower arrangements. They re-purposed all of my ceremony floral so that everywhere in the reception had touches of flowers. My head table, cake table, and seating chart were all completely covered with perfect floral.

Picture
Describe your day in one sentence?
Our wedding day was more than we could have ever dreamed of surrounded by all of our family and friends.

Picture
Best advice for a bride to be?
Do what YOU want to do. Throw away all the Do's and Don'ts that you read online, don't let anyone make you second guess your decisions and don't be afraid to change the "norms".
